International and Local Bamboo Projects and Prospects for 2011
Guest resource person: International Network of Bamboo and Rattan (INBAR) Director-General Dr. Coosje Hoogendoorn, will share with us INBAR's activities and projects on bamboo and rattan development. This is also a good opportunity for us to network with INBAR for further development of bamboo in the Philippines. Other presenters are Mr. Conrard Perreras to talk about highlights of Executive Order 879 and creation of the Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council (PBIDC); Mr. Democracy Icawalo will present bamboo as an alternative solution to climate change; and Dr. Segundino Foronda to present an alternative to fossil coal, called the Biocoal. From government, Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Merle Cruz to share DTI's plan for the Bamboo Industry and other government agencies such as Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI), Product Development & Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP), among others. From the private sector, participants will be coming from the Furniture, Housewares, Holiday Décor and Giftware Sectors.
