Factors of Production
a. Raw Materials, intermediate goods, components inputs
Raw materials for automotive parts include metal, plastic and rubber. Majority of the raw materials used in automotive parts is imported, approximately 80%.
b. Labor
WORKFORCE
Management and Rank & File
The present workforce is recognized to be highly skilled and trainable. The manufacturers themselves have contributed to the growth of the industry through the continuing education and training of its workers in vocational schools with the assistance of agencies like the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
c. Packaging materials
Automotive parts are transported to customers and accredited distributors in carton boxes supported by plastic / wooden pallets for durability of the packaging and safety.
a. OEM Market
Packaging requirements are specified in the contract between assemblers and parts makers.
b. Replacement Market
In some cases, distributor would ask manufacturers to package their products using the distributors' brand.
d. Appropriate Standards and Certification
Auto parts manufacturers who are into exporting are required to be ISO Certified (ISO9000). However, the Big Three Auto manufacturers demand that their suppliers must be QS Certified (QS9000), which is an improved version of ISO (ISO9000).
